Quick-Fire Round With Elizabeth Saltzman
Words by: Isla Philo. Design by: Melanie Makariou
If you haven’t heard, ME+EM have finally landed on the West Coast. To celebrate the opening of our debut flagship store in Beverly Hills, we recently hosted an intimate dinner with revered stylist and friend of the brand Elizabeth Saltzman, who has worked with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Garner, Elizabeth Debicki, Eiza González, Saoirse Ronan, Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer. Since her life + career span between LA, New York and London, we put her transatlantic allegiances to the test with a round of UK vs. US quick-fire questions.

Starting strong. Sunday brunch or Sunday roast?
Sunday surf or Sunday swim!
How do you take your eggs?
Soft-boiled.
Soft-boiled, that feels quite British.
No, very American. With little soldiers. I love my soldiers.
Tailored suit or jeans and a tee?
Tailored suit. Of course.
We’ll consider tailoring a win for the Brits. Tea or coffee?
Tea. I’ve never had a cup of coffee, ever, not one.
Another point to us. How do you take your tea?
Lots of sweeties, lots of sugars.
Juries out on that one. Pub or bar?
A disco!
Cotswolds or The Hamptons?
Ooh, mean, mean, mean. I'm gonna have to go with East Hampton because I grew up there.
Selfridges or Saks?
Oh, that's really hard. My mom was the fashion director at Sak’s for years. But I'm gonna say indie stores.
Can you give us your British style icon and your American style icon?
Ooh, well, this is interesting. Can I do two for one? Wallace Simpson.
Walking or driving?
Walking.
We’ll count that as a win for London. On that note - heels or flats?
My instinct is to say heels, but the truth is flats; I don't like the word "practical." So why don't we say... heels-to-flats.
And finally, the heavy hitter. London, LA or New York?
Mean, no comment, no way. I can’t pick that, it’s Sophie's choice! My husband's in London, one of my sons is in New York, and one is in LA. I can’t choose, no way.
