What To Wear On Christmas Day
Words by: Isla Philo. Design by: Melanie Makariou
Planning Christmas can be a stressful affair. In between working with people’s schedules, organising travel, buying and wrapping gifts and nailing down those Christmas dinner timings, there often isn’t much time to think about anything else. That’s why we’ve curated Christmas Day outfit solutions to cater to every possible moment, from waking up to drifting off, (hopefully on the sofa after a day of food + festivities) so you can focus on the most important thing: spending time with loved ones.

Driving Home For Christmas
However you’re travelling, from long car journeys to flights, make sure you do it in style. This season we’ve got polished-looking, easy-wearing co-ords that make effortless work of travel dressing. Comfort is key, but there’s no reason it can’t feel luxurious.
Our cashmere hoody + wide-leg track pant co-ord delivers the ultimate upgrade on your trusty travel essentials. For a union of on-the-go ease and a polished finish, look to new additions to the Travel Tailoring collection. Crafted in smooth ponte jersey, the Travel Layering Jacket has a high-neck, short-sleeve relaxed fit that allows room for a light knit base, while the choice of barrel or wide-leg matching pants means you can create your custom pairing. For lovers of our signature palazzo pant, we’ve got great news. It’s back this season in a new extra-wide silhouette, but in the same reliable super-soft modal jersey and roll-top waistband. Choose between Navy, Black or Warm Chocolate.

Stockings + Tea (or Mimosas)
Whether you’re waking up at the crack of dawn to watch little ones open stockings or you’re having a leisurely, drawn-out morning, it might feel too early to commit to your full Christmas Day outfit just yet. Instead, find the perfect go-between look that unites the comfort of pyjamas with a more put-together edge.
Racing downstairs to oversee the start of present-opening chaos means you're in an outfit time crunch, so choose something throw-on-and-go ready like a co-ord. Our High Neck Zip Crop Top and the matching Wide-Leg Track Pant come in soft sweatshirting jersey and an early morning-ready relaxed fit. Or for a sporty-smart look, turn to the stripe-trimmed bomber jacket + wide-leg pant co-ord in luxe merino + cashmere knit. If you have a little more time to get dressed, look to the Tweed Jersey capsule. Mix-and-match between the wide pant and a choice of swing or zip-front top, and if you want to dress it up for Christmas dinner, then swap to the AM-PM Midi Dress.

Pre-Dinner Walk
If you’re not the designated chef or sous chef, then the hours before Christmas dinner are the perfect time to get out of the house, build up an appetite and give the host some breathing room. Assuming you haven’t jetted to a balmy climate (more to come on this if you have), then stepping outside on the day calls for layers, and sturdy boots if enjoying a white Christmas.

The Main Event
There are two types of Christmas day dressers: those who seek all-day comfort and those who love to dress up to stay home. We have the solutions for both.
If your team get dressed up, then go all out in silk, sequins, and metallic-infused knits. New-season blouses combine bold color with practical, fitted cuffs - also known as sauce-safe sleeves - which are ideal for the precarious passing of dishes over the Christmas dinner table. Intelligently designed dresses like the 2-in-1 Knit Maxi give you choices on the day. The soft, slim-fitted knit base comes with a semi-sheer overlay for the option of extra coverage.
If you’re embracing the comfort of knitwear, choose something with a subtly festive edge like this season’s Textured Stitch mix-and-match pieces. A soft merino + cashmere knit and the dark neutral palette mean you’ll be reaching for them well beyond the Christmas season.

Sofa Time
The food may be eaten (until it’s time to build the great leftovers sandwich), but the day isn’t over. Whatever your post-dinner traditions might be, from lounging on the sofa, dozing in and out while the family watches Christmas films, or you’re about to get stuck into some lively board games, it’s time for a comfort-focused outfit change.
Nothing beats a cosy sweater for lounging on the sofa. Choose the softness of felted merino with our Felted Knit Sweatshirt, or opt for a detachable snood style for added coverage. If you want to keep the festive mood, then look to one of our more muted takes on the classic Christmas sweater. There are no flashing lights or reindeer here, but there are heritage patterns like Fair Isle and Argyle.

White Sand Christmas
If a white Christmas for you means long stretches of sandy beaches, then your festive look will be a bit different. The Winter Sun Edit has landed just in time for you to swap your cosy knits and comfy waistbands for the light and flowing holiday essentials. Discover everything you need for a sun-soaked getaway, from lightweight co-ords for the beach + beyond to flattering dresses and jumpsuits.
