Welcome to the Neighbourhood

Greenwich Edition

ME+EM, 255 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830, USA

Greenwich, we’ve officially arrived. As we’re located in the heart of the neighbourhood on Greenwich Ave, we thought it was only fair to share our favourite spots to plan the perfect day. From starting the day with craft coffee, to spending an afternoon at the polo, and of course, stopping by our new location.

EAT + DRINK

Raphaël's Bakery

Add a certain je ne sais quoi to your morning with a cup of coffee and a pastry from Raphaël's Bakery. This family-owned neighborhood favourite is known for its organic, locally roasted coffee beans and traditional French baked goods, including chouquettes, croissants and éclairs, as well as the lesser-known Kouign-amann, a typical pastry from the owner, Raphaël Dequeker’s, hometown of Brittany.

The Cottage

For dinner, take a visit to The Cottage, where coastal elegance meets modern American cuisine. Head Chef Brian Lewis curates a weekly, evolving menu of creative dishes made with exceptional ingredients from trusted regional farmers and purveyors, making this place a standout and earning him three nominations for the prestigious James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Northeast.

Elm Street Oyster House

There’s a must-visit place for seafood lovers on Connecticut’s Gold Coast. It’s Elm Street Oyster House, one of the most critically acclaimed seafood restaurants in the state. Tucked just off Greenwich Avenue, owner Billy Kulhanek has been serving the freshest seafood for 28 years, including a choice of six daily oysters, seafood platters, and classic dishes like shrimp cocktail, all complemented by an extensive wine list.

CULTURE

Greenwich Point Park

Greenwich Point Park is the ideal spot for taking in the coastal sights or setting up to watch the sunset. The sprawling 147.3-acre town-owned beach and grounds are known to the locals as ‘Tod's Point,’ after its origins as the estate of J. Kennedy Tod. It’s still home to many historic buildings, as well as the Old Greenwich Yacht Club.

Flinn Gallery

Art lovers should visit Flinn Gallery, a non-profit space run by over 40 volunteers that presents diverse exhibitions throughout the year. Established in 1928, what was once a small society of artists nestled within the original Greenwich Library has been transformed into a state-of-the-art dedicated space after the library’s 1999 redesign by globally renowned architect Cesar Pelli.

Polo Club

Another area institution: the Greenwich Polo Club. Home to the legendary White Birch polo team, this lively venue is surrounded by nature preserves and lakes, so it really feels like a day in the country. Keep an eye out for tickets to the 2026 summer season and be sure to book in at the CTC&G Players' Lounge, which is designed by local interior designer Patrick Mele.

SHOP

Patrick Mele

Get a glimpse into the unapologetically characterful world of interior designer Patrick Mele at his store on William Street. After building an impressive résumé that includes stints with Kate Spade and Ralph Lauren, Patrick turned his expertise to the world of interiors. His eponymous store features a curated selection of treasures, ranging from vintage furniture and trinkets to handmade rugs, and a healthy serving of bold + bright color.

Simon Teakle

Bringing his expertise across the pond, Simon Teakle, a fellow Brit, sources vintage jewelry and objet d’art pieces and collectables from all over the world. All about discovery, his fine jewelry collections span from the 18th century to Art Deco antiques to modern-day and include prestigious names like Pierre Sterlé and Van Cleef & Arpels. As well as sourcing unique treasures, he offers custom design appointments for those looking to create their perfect piece.

ME+EM

It wouldn’t be a guide to the best places in Greenwich without mentioning the latest addition to the neighbourhood. Located at 255 Greenwich Avenue, the store features custom-crafted bookcases displaying a curated edit of art and fashion books, as well as classic literature and a selection of personal favourites from Founder and CEO Clare Hornby. We’re championing British craftsmanship with one-of-a-kind rugs designed by carpet weaver Tim Page and bespoke upholstery by Rose Uniacke. Unique to the Greenwich space, we’ve sourced a 19th-century Regency sofa, reimagined in a traditional block print by Namay Samay, a London-based artisanal fabric house.
