One of the main problems that petite shoppers may face is the feeling of a dress wearing you, rather than you wearing the dress. Perhaps the shoulders don’t fit quite right, there seems to be excess fabric, or it doesn’t hug the waist the way you envisioned. Whatever the issue, we’ve already thought of the solution.

If your experience in finding the perfect maxi dress has resulted in hemlines becoming a serious trip hazard, then we have the solution.
All our midi dresses are cut and scaled so they finish at the perfect maxi length for petites, without running the risk of dragging on the floor. When we create styles with a mid-calf midi length, we usually design them to finish with a slight flare to the hem, which creates a flattering effect if it falls to a slightly longer length on petites.
Intelligent design details like a fitted panel under the bust, elasticated ruching on the back or an optional belt mean there’s some level of customisation to our waistlines, or a feature that adds more definition and prevents the ‘not-quite-right’ fit feeling.
We’ve also placed careful consideration on the placement of the waistlines. Because midis are a shorter length, we’ve brought the waist slightly higher up than we would on a maxi or full-length style, meaning you still get the flattering look of a long, sweeping skirt, but everything else is kept in proportion. This is especially important for petite dressers, as it means the fitted portion of the dress sits at the right place, rather than feeling too low.

There’s a reason why we have a crop jacket in every collection, and it's the same reason why they’re always a bestseller no matter the season. We’ve perfected the fit so they work for everyone, and instantly elevate any outfit.

The crop finish is cut to line up with the waistbands of our trousers and the fitted waists of our dresses, while also doubling up as a full-length fit for petite heights. Not only does it create a flattering look, but it solves the often tricky styling situation of pairing jackets with dresses. Learn more about the proportions we think work best in our editorial, The Jacket + Dress Formula.
There’s a lot to be said about the perfect sleeve. Of course, it’s hard to create a universally perfect length, but there are certain tips and tricks we use to get as close as possible.
For our occasion jackets and blazers, we go for a bracelet-length sleeve. This means for an average height person, they finish with a slight crop just above the wrist, but for those with a petite figure, they can finish at a neat full length.
When it comes to more casual jackets that have buttoned cuffs, we make sure there’s enough room to turn them back without creating too much restriction, and ensure that the inside seams are as neat as the exterior, so it still looks intentional.
In order to make sure our jackets don’t overwhelm the figure, we make sure that they retain a neat fitted look around the shoulders. Blazers have traditional shoulder pads that are designed to contour rather than exaggerate the shoulders, and evening jackets are designed to have a close but not restrictive fit.

If you’re wondering how we got the title, ‘The Trouser Whisperers’, it’s because we’re dedicated to delivering the perfect fit. Regardless of shape or size, we’re confident you’ll find the perfect tailored fit within our collections.

In order to create great tailoring, it has to feel bespoke to the wearer. That’s why for every key suit style we offer a choice of trouser shapes and lengths. So you can choose the style that fits and flatters you the most. Our cropped styles are cleverly proportioned so they can be worn as a full length for petite heights, while still retaining a slim fit around the waist.
Key trouser styles now come in up to three lengths: short, regular and tall. This spans across all shapes from wide-leg to crop, and for every length variation, we consider how pockets, belt loops and pleats are scaled and placed so they remain in proportion to each size.
Many of our trousers are designed with wider cuff hems with a neat topstitched border. Not only does this create a clean drape, it also means they have more structure and the option to turn them up for a shorter length.
Planning to have your trousers tailored to the perfect length? We’ve considered that too, which is why we consider how trousers might look if they’re hemmed, so you decide to take them up, it won’t affect the final shape.
